FRIDAY RACE DAY AT KEARNEY UPDATE: We will be live from Kearney, Nebraska for the final tonight. Right now it’s raining, but the rain should stop by mid-afternoon. Currently, we are scheduled to start racing at 6 P.M., so be sure to tune in to see the final runs from Rocky Mountain Race Week!

THURSDAY UPDATE 1: It’s currently raining at Great Bend…great. On the bright side, it’s supposed to clear up by 10:30 and we should have the track dried off within an hour or so. We are here, and aren’t going anywhere…if we can race, we will!

THURSDAY RACE DAY FROM GREAT BEND, KANSAS:

It’s going to get really real today on Rocky Mountain Race Week as the battles get tighter and the carnage gets more severe  we had engines changed on the road, broken rockers, failed oil pressure sending units, overheating and much more on Wednesdays race across Kansas. It is going to continue today as racers who are NOT leading throw everything they’ve got at it to try to take home their class win. Plus, we have a threat of rain at the track around noon and that means early runs are what you can expect, and hopefully good air so the numbers will be extra impressive.

Racing is scheduled to start around 9 and we will bring it all too you all day.

WEDNESDAY DRIVE/THRASH DAY:

We’ll be live today off and on from the road, but there will  be no racing until tomorrow morning. With that said we’ve already seen an engine being taken out in a dirt parking lot, due to no oil pressure and a serious rod knock.

So it’s a drive and thrash day to get to Great Bend Kansas and to get your junk fixed and ready to roll for racing in Great Bend tomorrow morning. We’ll go live by 9am tomorrow so tune in!

TUESDAY RACING AT PUEBLO:

Doug Cline leads Larry Larson going into the 3rd day of racing here at RMRW 2016, cars a breaking, tuning is on, and the halfway point begins this evening with racing on Pueblo’s sometimes tricky surface.

We will be shooting video and photos to bring you even more great coverage tomorrow, and will bring you live action from the pits at 5pm Mountain Time.

The heat and humidity, along with incredible altitude and conditions have made this one tough week for many, but amazingly most still have a smile on their faces! Join us live by clicking the link below to watch live.

MONDAY RACING AT BANDIMERE:

Racing starts around 9 and goes until 3 at the famed mile high drag strip. We will be live between 8:30 and 9 and have some good stories to tell you about from the road, along with some rumors to explore so we can find out which ones are true.

Currently Doug Cline is leading the pack in Unlimited, but with trouble on the road yesterday can he keep the always lethal Larry Larson at bay? We shall see.

SUNDAY UPDATE:

We will be going live today as internet allows. Today is a “drive only day” with no racing. There is a car show with the competitors at Coors Brewery tonight that should make for some good photos to share.

The replay from last night’s racing in Kearney is available at the link below.

That’s right, we’ll be live starting Saturday July 9th all the way through Rocky Mountain Race Week, ending with a special Cash Days event on Saturday July 16th! But before we event get there, you can follow along as we’ll be sharing our adventures from the road on our way to the start at Kearney Raceway Park, in Nebraska. During Rocky Mountain Race Week, we will be live from the track, on the road, and every where else we can find something cool to show you. Driver interviews, racing action, road side fixes, local eateries, and much more are all in store as we cruise across country and race each day in search of adventure and fun.

It’s nuts to think that we’re also going to be driving Daphne’s 1966 Bel Air Wagon we call Ethyl, all the way from SoCal to Kearney Nebraska, race it all week, and then drive it back home. We’ve done some tweaks compared to last year and expect this sucker to go quicker than ever. In typical race event fashion we’re thrashing on this thing as we speak and it goes to Westech for some chassis dyno tuning on the Holley Terminator EFI this afternoon to get some new NOS numbers down as well.

We’ll keep you posted on Daphne’s adventures throughout the week as she chases her best ET at each and every track. Last year her best was a 12.91 during this event and we expect to stomp on that number a bit this year.

So join us Thursday and Friday as we drive to Kearney by following us on Facebook and looking for our adventures right here on the pages of BangShift.com.

What on earth does Nebraska (Flat) and Kansas (flat) have to do with the Rocky Mountains ?

I get that part of the Race is in Colorado, But Kansas and Nebraska…

It like calling a Race “Beach Race week” and having 1 race in Southern Calif, and the rest in Arizona…

Bang Shift did not name it… so don’t go after them. They also didn’t name you Nancy so go blame your mom for that. 🙂

Calm down and enjoy the racing. Wish I was there- Rocky Mountains or not.

FYI- While driving from Kearney to Denver you passed another drag strip in Julesburg, CO. Would also be cool to hook this up so one day racing you also have the Rocky Mtn Stick Shifters involved. They have a great program also. Bryan Lum who is participating with the G8 is a member with his Camaro.

The person that created this event is out of Colorado, and a a large amount of driving is in Colorado, I have now been at the event, twice it is an awesome event ! Also I believe the event will always have at least one track if not 2 in Colorado, not sure why people get hung up on a name, its a great event and I hope it grows, the drivers actually win real money and prizes ! I guess the internet just makes people want to throw stones ! Had a great time at the event, Thanks to all those that competed and those that organized it !
