NHRA Stock Eliminator Action Photos From The Lucas Oil Race At Maple Grove Raceway

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – So the other day we showed you some of the fine super stock cars and super stock action from the NHRA Lucas Oil Series division one race at Maple Grove Raceway. We’re going back to the same event, back to cars with doors, but we’re shrinking the tires, we’re taking away lots of chassis modifications, and we’re really locking down what you can do with the engines. Yes, we’re featuring stockers!

Stock eliminator has been a staple in the NHRA drag racing world for coming on 50 years now. The class does now what it did then, showcase some of the most interesting, cool, and hardcore factory iron that Detroit has produced since the 1950s. Of course the evolution of the world means that we now have factory built drag machines running in the 8.20s at more than 165 mph but that is the nature of the beast.

For us, the big block and small block four-speed cars are really tops. When a big block stocker gets hold of the race track and the chassis is setup right, there’s nothing more fun to watch leave the starting line. Big arching wheelies and tons of power all hitting the pavement through a nine inch wide tire.

This collection of fine Joe Grippo images will show off all the different eras of stockers that were at the Maple Grove event. From hammering Cobra Jets like the 2016 model of Carl Tasca to oddball stuff you’d never expect to see on the strip, there’s a little slice of everything in here for your viewing pleasure.
