The racing action at the California Hot Rod Reunion® presented by Automobile Club of California has grown to include the thrilling five-second Nostalgia Pro Mod category that will compete during the event, Oct. 23-25 at Auto Club Famoso Raceway.
The Nostalgia Pro Mod category field will consist of sixteen of the fastest door slammers taking to the concrete quarter mile track. Cars will feature ‘nostalgic’ 1972 or earlier body styles and no combination is too wild for these impressive machines.
The 2014 California Hot Rod Reunion Nostalgia Pro Mod class was won by Mike Maggio’s in his 1969 Camaro, runner-up was Rob Casioppo in his supercharged Corvette.
The cars are powered by combinations including monster cubic inch engines with multiple stages of nitrous, also taking to the track will be 14-71 roots blown supercharged engines, PSI Screw type superchargers and twin turbocharged combinations. The teams can choose the best combination to speed down the track.
The choices to get the power to the ground are nearly as limitless. Multi-disc clutches, high tech converters, Lenco gear boxes or Rossler type automatics are all represented. The Nostalgia Pro Mod category will bridge the gap between the early styles of cars and today’s technology.
Entries from California, Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington and Canada will be represented in this 250 mph category.
The Nostalgia Pro Mod category will add to the thrilling nostalgia quarter-mile nitro drag racing including Nostalgia Funny Car, Top Fuel, Junior Fuel, A/Fuel, and 7.0 Pro. Racing action starts at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23.
