No form of motorsports in America benefitted more from the weird, sometimes foreign, cheap little cars that ended up in junkyards across the country during the 1950s and 1960s. From Willys coupes to Anglias, to stuff like Fiat Topolinos like the one shown here, drag racers grabbed that stuff and somehow managed to create iconic vehicles out of it. While this altered itself may not be iconic, it is pretty damned awesome because of the fact that it is mostly a period time capsule. It is a look back at a time when you could actually buy a Fiat Topolino body for virtually nothing out of a wrecking yard and drape it over your chassis. This is a STEEL BODY! on this car except for the nose. Cowl back is all vintage Fiat tin.
The wheels are also freaking awesome. Real magnesium spindle mounts out from and magnesium Halibrands in the rear complete a look that makes this car as cool as it is. There’s nothing (that we can see) that takes this car out of the great fuel altered days except for the headers. We hate those and want to see them melted into a puddle but everything else is good to go.
The engine is an injected small block Chevy and while we’re not sure what the thing was originally raced with, we know that the injector stacks look pretty good coming through the hood and it probably has some audio bite breathing through the end of those open pipes.
The seller claims that the chassis was built by Foy Gilmore who has built some just awesome stuff throughout his career. One of the unsung guys in the industry, his Florida operation cranked out lots of different creations from funny cars to altereds, top sportsman machines, and more!
This is a radical little car that needs some paint and a little TLC to be a true head turner. Steel body, all the old stuff still in the gut and those magnesium wheels? We’re weak in the knees already. It is priced to sell as well. Check it out!

I kinda like those headers. Small block Chevy zoomies always look a little awkward in my opinion, but these seem to fit the car.
the wheels alone are enough to make me wet my pants…I imagine the whole thing done up in multi layered candies with lace and ribbons, bubbles and flake for days….sweet.
