This 440 Powered Plymouth Duster Could Be The Driver Hot Rod Mopar You Need

Daily driven hot rods are the best. Or at least the ones you can drive every day, even if you only drive them a couple days per week. What makes them cooler to me is when they are something with a big block, or nasty small block, or that has a 5000 stall converter and a set of gears that nobody would describe as “streetable”. Those are the hard core cars that I love to see being driven. Maybe this 1974 Plymouth Duster is that car for you. It sits right, certainly grabs your attention in bright yellow, and is big block powered. Win!

If it was mine I’d probably ruin it by putting a bit more gear in it, changing the cam for something a bit bigger, and then throwing a better intake and bigger carb on it in preparation for the 150 shot that I would have to have. This would be a serious 11 second driver at that point, and who wouldn’t want that!

Here is all the info from the seller, and contact information is at the bottom of the seller’s ad and description.

Here’s a super clean Duster that has been fitted with a fresh 440 big block Chrysler, 727 TorqueFlite transmission and a freshly built Dana 60 rearend.

Copy and paste the link below for a walk around video:

The yellow repaint looks to be five or more years old, but it shines up very nicely and the 340 stripes give it that early 70’s retro look. On the inside, the seats have been trimmed with “period correct” two tone vinyl upholstery using factory style piping and stitching. The interior has been further detailed with a new dash pad, carbon fiber look instrumentation treatment, brand new Grant leather wrapped “Tuff Steering Wheel”, B&M floor shifter, full gauges, and a great sounding Alpine deck with Alpine speakers in the factory package tray location. The rear sail panels are perfect and the rear package tray is new.

In addition to the cosmetic improvements that have been made, I’ve updated/repaired a long list of parts to make this a road worthy driver that is more than just a solid cruiser….it’s also a fun drag strip bruiser. The car is currently registered through June of 2017, no emissions testing required and the personalized legacy DSTR 440 plates are included with car.

This car is a real head turner and she always gets a second look or a “thumbs up”. This is a turnkey driver that fits right in on the street, at the strip, on a nightly cruise or weekend car show. I’ve showered a lot of love and money on this car, so I’ve priced it accordingly. I’m NOT forced to sell it, but the price is still negotiable to a certain extent so feel free to make me a reasonable offer.

Looking for a cash sale, but I may consider trading for a nice 2000 or later 1-ton dually of equal value. Lots of value added to this street driven 440 Mopar, so it’s truly a rare find.

$14,700 obo

This looks to be a good deal, and certainly it couldn’t be duplicated for the money. Would be quite desirable. especially if it has a steel crank engine. On the plus side, at least it doesn’t have that goofy spoiler that everyone seems to have installed (almost NOBODY bought that stuff back in the day – for good reason). At any rate, if I didn’t have too many projects in the works, I’d jump on it. You could leave it as is, or mildly tweak it and have an easy 10 second street car that can actually be used semi-daily). I’d probably use the TTI under-chassis headers instead of the fenderwell BB headers.

Not my favorite year, but in my favorite color and looks to be well done :^)
