Aeromotive And Waterman Dominate NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion Nitro!

Aeromotive And Waterman Dominate NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion Nitro!

Winning is tough in any form of motorsports, but when three top nitro racecars and teams sweep the better part of the top eliminator field, it’s worth yelling it from the rooftops.  You all know our friends and BANGshift.com sponsor Aeromotive Fuel Systems and their subsidiary Waterman Racing Components. The combination of the two companies is delivering wins, at some of the toughest racing venues out there.

The 26th California Hot Rod Reunion presented by Automobile Club of Southern California wrapped up the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage series season this past weekend at Auto Club Famoso Raceway.

During the 26th annual Reunion, funny car rookie Bobby Cottrell, driver of the Austin & O’Brien Northwest Hitter conquered the nitro funny car class in the Bardahl-backed ’69 Camaro. On the way to winning the event, Cottrell set a new NHRA Heritage Series National Record of 5.528 seconds elapsed time, breaking the old mark of 5.536 ET he set at the Heritage Series event at Mission, Canada. Crew Chief and co-owner Bucky Austin utilizes a Waterman fuel pump flowing 21 gallons per minute.

Also in the Winner’s Circle on Sunday evening, Canadian Ryan Hodgson and his Pacemaker/Oceanus ’69 Camaro-bodied nitro funny car earned the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series Nostalgia Funny Car Championship after a dominant, season-long, on-track performance during the six-race schedule. Hodgson was defeated in the Semi-final round by event winner Cottrell.

The Pacemaker’s Crew Chief Bob Papirnick (left), Jim Basko (center) and Ryan Hodgson (right) rely on Aeromotive Fuel System’s Billet Spur Gear Fuel Pump (Part #11940) to consistently clock 5.60-5.70 elapsed time quarter mile runs at over 255 miles per hour.

In the Nostalgia Top Fuel class, Jim Young towed to the legendary all concrete track north of Bakersfield all the way from Salem, Wisconsin to qualify third for season ending event running a 5.689 second elapsed time.

In the Top Fuel final round, Young piloted his Young Guns dragster uncontested after newly crowned 2017 Series Champion Jim Murphy was unable to make repairs to his dragster for the final. Young relies on Aeromotive Fuel System’s Billet Spur Gear Fuel Pump (Part #11941) flowing 20 gallons per minute.

Yep, already narrow glass house on top narrow body longer wheelbase. Too bad this series already jumped the shark. Guess winning is more important than the show
