Choosing The Right Steering Wheel For Your Race Car Is About Way More Than Looks!

Choosing The Right Steering Wheel For Your Race Car Is About Way More Than Looks!

Sometimes the parts choices you make on your race car are for looks, sometimes for power, and sometimes for convenience or safety. But it always make me laugh when you realize that some of the choices are made with the wrong priority in mind. Looks shouldn’t be the first order of business when it comes to safety items for example. Well, the same thing can be said for a steering wheel. Sure we look at them, a lot in fact, but the truth is they are your most important and interactive control, safety, and performance item in the car. In this video from Tim McAmis Race Cars you’ll get the lowdown on steering wheel options, uses, and how to make the right choice for your particular ride.

In this video you’ll also get good info on steering wheel quick releases, steering shaft extensions, and more. Of course the added benefit to this video is Tim McAmis himself, as he’s got all the attitude that you find entertaining and useful. Watch this video and enjoy, as I guarantee you will laugh and also learn something.

Thanks for all the entertainment Tim, we BANGshifters appreciate it.

    He is classic!
What I like most is the free flow of information. I’m the same way with my composites company. There’s enough business to go around for everyone that does good work like Tim. You don’t need to hide anything or fear competition.

This is GREAT. Too many people in the industry – magazine journalists, retailers like Summit, Jeg’s, etc., promoters, and all – refuse to call out crap products. All are gutless. I don’t know how many times I have ordered parts and had to return them because they are unfit for use, don’t fit, are misrepresented, etc. And contrary to what Summit and the magazines say, it is NOT that “simple” to return items purchased on line, which is where we too often now have to go for parts.
THANK YOU Tim. I wish there were more like you.

From a circle track or road course perspective I dig it. But i’d be the momo to spend $300 bucks on a wheel I hang onto for 7 seconds bracket racing… bottom line is get what feels good. Many a race has been won on a junkyard wheel… just my 2 cents.
