Composite Series Continues: Carbon Fiber Panels. How They Are Made, How To Use Them, And How To Install Them

Every component on a race car is designed to perform a particular function, but not all parts are created equal. All Carbon Fiber is not the same, and the way they are made and their thickness can have a big impact on how they are used, and how well they perform specific functions. These factors also impact how you fabricate with them. In Part 3 of the Tim McAmis Composite Series you’ll learn all this and more, making you the expert you need to be to use them in your next project.

There are two main manufacturing methods for Carbon Fiber panels. The first, and most familiar to most people, is a wet layup. This one is familiar, as it is much the same as laying up fiberglass parts. The second, which is stronger and more consistent looking, is a vacuum bagged process that creates really smooth and clean parts with straight weave lines.

Regardless of how they are made, getting some tips and tricks from an expert on how to install and use these flat panels will make your installation and overall project more efficient and so much nicer. We learned a lot from this video and can’t wait to use some panels on one of our upcoming projects.
