DIY Paint And Body At Home: Restoring A 1964 Pontiac LeMans With No Fancy Equipment, Or Crew Of Elves.

We often share rattle can paint jobs, ultra cheap paint jobs, and more here because I’m obsessed with painting my own car at some point. Otherwise I’ll never be able to afford it, so I’m going to learn and do it myself. I know I’m not alone, and that there are tons of you who are in the same boat. But paint tech isn’t a new interest of mine. I remember articles in Hot Rod and Car Craft where they made their own paint booths in the garage using plastic sheeting, box fans, and furnace filters. It was awesome. In the video below, from the Pole Barn Garage, their 1964 LeMans project is going to get some color and shine and they are doing it DIY style.

Make no mistake, he knows what he’s doing when painting cars, but the reality is that this one is being painted where there is no booth, in a barn, with bugs that can’t help themselves and want to touch the paint. It happens. But it’s okay and it is a reality regardless. So check out the video, laugh and enjoy, and tell us whether you’d try painting your own car at home after seeing this.

Video Description:

It’s time for final bodywork and paint on our 1964 Pontiac Lemans. We spend hours and hours block sanding the car to perfection before applying Aquamarine Firemist paint to it. All at home, no fancy equipment or a crew to help.
