I can’t remember the last time I was in a Harbor Freight and didn’t look at the gantry cranes longingly. Sure, I cherry picker is a great thing that we all need in the shop, but man these gantrys sure look like they would be handy, especially when pulling bodies or beds or what have you. And I own a forklift! I can lift just about anything, but I think one of these could be pretty handy, especially if you put an electric hoist on it too. At any rate, when I found this video showing one of them being unboxed, assembled, and then hot rodded, I knew I had to watch it.

In this video I take the HF gantry crane and make it wider so it will be able go over the fenders of my car trailer. This will be helpful when I remove heavy items from the trailer and move thing around the shop.
