Monza has not been sitting still during the off season caused by COVID-19, or more precisely the Sinister Split Bumper hasn’t as it traveled to Larson Race Cars for some serious upgrades during the off season. While Monza’s Camaro has been fast, it has also lived a tough life and would be much better handling, quicker, and easier to drive if it had some changes made. Those changes are covered in this update video where he hangs out with Larry Larson to discuss the changes, how far along they are, and what they can expect from the car when it is done and out on the streets.
Some of the changes include suspension mounting point location changes, all in an effort to make the car both leave better and be more stable. On the road, or on the No Prep Kings tracks, these are upgrades that can result in a win if only because the car is more drivable. In addition to the suspension changes, there are also some induction system changes happening as Monza is moving over to Harts Turbos. These suckers are making big strides in the No Prep world as they bring their diesel and tractor pull experience, as well as lots of testing with Larson to the end user. These turbos make big power, spool quicker, and more. Listen to Larson talk about them in the video.
God, I hate that term “Split Bumper Camaro”! It’s as bad as people calling record albums “Vinyls”…
Yep just as bad as people calling ENGINES motors.
Jeff Lutz must LOVE the fact Monza is having Larry work on his car!!
Hurst/Olds from Iowa in the shop, also.
Man, the dollars these guys spend is off the charts. I don’t think people know just how incredibly expensive racing at this level really is.
BTW, time will tell if the Harts turbos pan out. I love Larry Larson but he hasn’t exactly set the world on fire with that big single turbo in his Caddy.
