Gassers and A/FX cars are awesome. I mean who doesn’t love them? They are the kind of car that people smile at when they see them and when you can actually do more than cruise through a show they are even better. Well this particular Comet is one that can go just as well as it can show and we think it would be killer to ad to the garage. No it isn’t perfectly period correct. No it wasn’t originally a real A/FX car. But who cares? It is fun, we’re sure it’s fast, and who wouldn’t think this was a bitchin hot rod to own?
Here is the info from the seller:
This 1965 Comet 404 A/FX Re-Creation has undergone an incredible build by American Hot Rod in Anaheim CA. It was updated with a Carroll Shelby aluminum block 427ci engine with Ford aluminum cylinder heads, a solid roller cam and a Quick Fuel Tech carb system. A Hampton 871 blower and Jessel belt drive system sits up top to pressurize the big block.
An Art Carr 2 speed Powerglide transmission with trans brake gets the power from the massive motor delivered to the slicks underneath. Performance Automatic bellhousing, Strange aluminum 9″ center with Strange axles ensure the power makes it to the 15 inch Monocoque wheels and Brand New 32.0×14-15 Hoosier tires.
This Comet is making 800+ horsepower. It is an absolutely absolutely beautiful build. Real gold leafing, tons of polished/chromed pieces in the engine bay and underneath the car. The entire trunk and fuel cell is aluminum. Fully caged with racing seats abd harnesses of course.
Willwood 4 wheel disc brakes and a Vega style Flaming River steering box give more drivability
Fast, loud, abd a blast to drive. The Comet is street legal, turns heads, and wins shows wherever it goes.
