My 1956 Chevrolet wagon, “Rusty”, has my old hot rod shop lettered on the tailgate and when I had it done I wanted it to match the patina on the car so the artist who did the lettering used several techniques to make it look like it had been there forever. It really set the rear of the car off and would not have been nearly as good if it looked freshly applied when he did it. I love it, and it fits the car so well. But how do you get that look? I’ve heard all kinds of ways to make the paint look old, including additives, and techniques, but in this video from Jack Fleming Artistry we’ll see his methods and learn how to do it on our own car.
Check it out and let us know if you would attempt this on your own ride now that you know the tricks.
