Testing Vice Grips Differently: Squeezing Power, Grip Strength, And More! But Are These All Made In The Same Factory?

We’re all about the tool testing around here, and who doesn’t love a good pair of locking pliers, or vice grips as they are commonly referred to as. You’ll not only learn about how strong these different brands are, but also likely some different ways to use them. I grew up adjusting locking pliers and then squeezing them tightly to lock. But it turns out there are other folks who lock them in place with very little load on them and then tighten the knob to make them actually grip whatever you are working on. I had never seen this done until the last couple of years, but I have to say that sometimes it is a great way to use them.

But regardless of how you tighten them up, if you are anything like me then you want to know how much grip strength they have, how good the jaws are at clamping onto whatever you are working on, and how much you can pry or pull on them before they will let go.
