I like tools, in fact I was grimacing at how many I have last night when I was reorganizing and cleaning up in the shop. But despite having lots of tools I don’t have ALL the tools, nor do I have every tool I need. This is a new tool that I need. It’s the new Punch and Flare die from Eastwood and it works very much like a Greenlee Punch but with a twist. If you haven’t used a Greenlee Punch to make holes in sheetmetal, then you haven’t lived. Using a Greenlee punch compared to a hole saw is like using an electric carving knife on your Turkey vs a Sawzall. I hate sawzalls.
So, this new Punch and Flare Die from Eastwood not only cuts the super clean hole with precision, but also flares and dimples the perimeter of it all in one step. Oh and did we mention they make one that beads the entire perimeter of the hole? Yep, like you took the world’s smallest beadroller around it. It’s genius and we love it. They are available in 4 sizes that you’ll want to use on everything, and I’m already thinking of ways to use them on a couple new projects!
