How Does Walmart’s Hyper Tough Cordless Impact Gun And Impact Driver Compare To The Big Boys?

The cordless tool game just keeps on getting tougher and tougher as the various brands are constantly improving performance while trying not to change pricing. Or in some cases, while continuing to lower prices! In the last 5 years, brands that no serious car junkie would have ever considered buying for tools have become major players in the mechanics tool world. There was no way a Snap-On customer was going to buy a Bauer, Hyper Tough, or Hercules impact gun or ratchet five years ago. It just wasn’t going to happen.

And then there was a shift. A shift that found Harbor Freight jumping into the higher end tool lineup and resulted in savvy tool buyers buying their ICON toolboxes and Bauer impact guns. All of this spurred a tool race that amped up rivalries like DeWalt vs Milwaukee, and brought other brands out of the woodwork who were trying to compete with the big boys at a fraction of the price. And that in turn made it cool to get the most powerful tool, even if it was from one of the “generic” brands.

Even knowing all this, it still makes me shake my head in wonder that Walmart’s Hyper Tough is one of the brands everyone is talking about. But check out the video below.

Video Description:

How does Walmart’s Hyper Tough in High Torque impact wrench and brushless impact driver stack up against the types of tools they probably would like to be compared to while being priced 2-3X less? In our experience, which means in the last month or so of these Gen 2 hyper Tough stuff coming out, the answer is – pretty good. So let’s see if they can keep that up.
