How It’s Done: Dipping And Chemical Stripping A 1966 GTO Body Of Paint AND Rust Is A Neat Process.

Dipping cars to remove paint and filler isn’t new, but the process has changed over the years for sure. In fact it isn’t just to get rid of paint anymore, but also to get rid of rust. This video here is showing the three step process for dipping to get rid of the paint, then the rust, and finally to keep the whole thing from rusting again in mere minutes. This is pretty cool and the ultimate way to remove everything from a body before a complete restoration.

Video Description:

Today I’m taking you through the process of stripping this 1966 Pontiac GTO down to bare metal prior to its restoration!

I am using a proprietary 3 step process.

Step 1 paint removal in an alkaline bath.

Step 2 rust removal in an acid bath.

Step 3 applying a water based rust inhibitor.

After every acid dip the car is neutralized in our alkaline to stop from flash rusting.
