We’ve watched Matt from Urchfab build all kinds of fun stuff, and I can tell you that he has some pretty smart methods. I’ve watched him long enough to realize that his little habits, like making a practice pass around a tube joint, can make a huge difference when it actually comes down to pulling the trigger and welding the joint. What I like about Matt is that he builds cool stuff but he isn’t a professional race car fabricator who is building out of reach projects on a daily basis. Instead, he’s building things we can relate to and therefore learn from or be inspired by. In these videos he’s got some great tips and trick and methods on how to weld your tubing together for a roll cage or roll bar.

What is great about it is the fact that he’s showing you what you need to know to weld INSIDE the car, not in some perfect position on a work bench. That’s the problem many people have when they start building projects that require welding tubing inside a car. You can weld on a bench, and fit tube on a bench, but when you get cramped into a car and are having to figure out how to move inside the car these tips can come in handy.
