Cheap tools vs expensive tools. The argument for each has been going on for a hundred years or more, just here in the United States! But it isn’t as simple an argument to make nowadays, because cheap insinuates poor quality and there are plenty of inexpensive tools out there now with quality that rivals, and sometimes exceeds, the expensive brands. So perhaps we should refer to those brands with the combination of good quality and low price as value brands or something else less insulting. I refer to them as a good bang for your buck and that is how I make nearly all of my tool buying decisions. I just can’t afford the big expensive tool truck brands, and if I could then I would be afraid to use them because they were so expensive.
Never is the cost of a tool more of a concern than when that tool is something you won’t often use in comparison to your wrenches and sockets and screwdrivers that are in your hands every day or every weekend. So when the Torque Test Channel decided they were going to test wheel bearing press kits, I had to check them out. I own some specialty tools like this and have always bought the reasonably priced option, often from my O’Reilly Auto Parts store’s rental fleet. Now I will say that the prices on some of those tool kits have gone up in recent years, but the stuff I’ve bought has always done me right and the greatest part is you get to try it before you buy it.
So what wheel bearing press kits came out on top?
