We’ve all heard the horror stories about misused jack stands, faulty stands, and cheap junk stands. I’d say that most of the problems with jack stands come from user error, but the best stands also make it easier to use them correctly so why not get the best if you are in the market for them anyway. I own a bunch of jack stands, most of them from Harbor Freight, and have stuck with one brand and style so there is no question on how they work. Having multiple styles of stands just makes it more likely that someone unfamiliar with them will make a mistake.
