WILL IT FIT? Can You Fit A 275 Drag Radial On A 14 inch Wide Rim? Watch This!

As Drag Radial Racing has evolved, and 275 tire technology has improved, the size of wheel that everyone is running has continued to grow. On paper an 8 inch rim is wide enough for a normal 275 street tire, with an 8.5-9 inch wheel being ideal. A ten inch wheel is a bit big for a normal 275 street tire, but fine, and not hard to install. In the racing world of x275 and the like a 10 inch rim is the minimum, with a 12 inch wide wheel being the norm. But if 12 inches wide is good, is 14 inches wide better? Can you even stretch one far enough to make it fit a 14 inch wheel?

I recently worked on a project that needed a 275 tire and the topic of running a 14 inch vs 12 inch wheel came up. We decided we probably could make it fit, but wondered if it was possible without a bead lock and without getting it so stretched that it made the tread lay weird on the ground. Well here is your answer, as John Doc walks you through trying to make it happen. But does it? Is it good? How awesome does it look? And will it work?

Watch this and find out.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should, I am interested to see if they work that far out of the design parameters.I’ve mounted many odd set-ups for the street but always try and stay close to factory recomendations on race stuff. They kinda look like the weird stuff the stance people run.
