Here’s What It Really Takes To Put Together An Aftermarket Mustang Body

With all the reproduction parts available for your favorite muscle cars and trucks, you can fix just about anything. But what about folks that are going crazy with a build or have something that is just too far gone to repair. Thankfully there have been a bunch of complete bodies that have become available in recent years so you can build what you want. You can get them assembled, partially assembled, or in pieces so you can assemble them yourself. This video series from Peterson Restoration shows just how it is to put one together from the individual parts and will be good to see if you think you might be interested in building one yourself.

Putting one together can certainly be intimidating, but if you have the skills and patience you’ll end up with a great body to start your newest project. And when it is done you’ll have no cutting and repairing to do because of rust! Think about how nice hanging a quarter panel must be on a bunch of brand new sheet metal instead of on a bunch of rust and bent up crap. I have not built one of these bodies, but I do know that lots of drag racing and pro touring builds have been started with these. And for good reason, because then you don’t have to cut up a stock floor or trunk or whatever.

Watch Peterson handle it and tell us what you think. Would you tackle one of these for a project?
