If you have ever had the urge to assume the roles of both Clark Griswold and Mad Max at the same time, boy do we have the car for you! This 1970 Impala Kingswood wagon has a roof rack, a sweet interior, some patina, and overdrive transmission and a supercharged 496ci Chevy rat motor under the hood. We know some guys who have actually ridden in this car and the common theme is that “nothing that size should be as fast as that thing actually is.” They said that with wet spots on their crotch which they claim originated from some spilled beverages but we know better. A little pee came out. Anywho….this is an unassuming rocket ship that would make summer cruising and occasional drag strip assaults a blast. Maybe some upgrades to the handling aspect of the car and you could at least have the biggest cat at the autocross with the largest displacement engine. There’s something to be said for both of those things.
This car gets driven a lot, has done time on the Power Tour, obviously has drag strip laps under its belt and now the owner is looking to do something else. How you top something this good we don’t know but it seems like he is going to try. The engine (as mentioned) is a 496 ci stroker that uses a Scat rotating assembly and it is topped with a Weiand 177 blower. A Holley carb is the literal cherry on top of this one. While an actual horsepower number is not given, this thing has to be making some real suds, especially with some boost going through it. We’re in love. As you know by now, cars with a rather unassuming look but a big hairy engine under the hood are the jam we love the best around here and this tank hits all the right notes.

Within the first five minutes of ownership I would have those aweful chrome wheels and rubber band tires off and slap a set of body color steels with poverty caps in their place. Then I would take all the corvette owners’ lunch money. Then I would laugh until I puke. The end.
