The thousands of fans that streamed into Auto Club Raceway at Pomona last weekend expected to see a lot of stuff but they did not expect to see Brittany Force suffer a massive crash in her top fuel dragster. The Monster Energy car, driven by the defending NHRA top fuel world champion suffered the calamity during the first round of eliminations on Sunday. While facing Terry Haddock, Force’s car lost traction. She tried to pedal the car to get it hooked back up and instead it broke traction again and accelerated almost dead left across the track. Thankfully Haddock had already smoked the tires and was not side by side with Force when she came across the track.
After taking the necessary amount of time to evaluate and remove Force from the car, the NHRA Safety Safari had her transported to a local medical facility. Force was awake and talking to officials when that move was made. At the medical facility her CT scans came back good and it was determined that she was suffering pain in her shoulder area but as of this writing no broken bones or limbs have been reported.
The side impact nature of the crash is a tough one. There is little around that area of the car to absorb impact and dissipate it. She took a hard shot but the modern safety features in the car like the high density padding, poured driver’s seat, and SFI mandated driver’s area all worked to minimize the negative impact on her.
This was a wild one!
Glad I haven’t paid for the All Access yet as these wrecks, fires, and time consuming track clean ups make terrible programming.
Looks like she was a little behind the car.
Good driving kept the car from a head on with the wall and possibly over it. Crank it right and shut it off!
In my opinion good driving would have been letting the car settle down before plowing your foot back in it.
She is lucky this didn’t result in something worse. Like hitting Haddock. Maybe in a bad spot like the cockpit.
what a bunch of asses you all couldn\’t say thank god she or the other driver
were not hurt badly or killed.thank you you god for watching out for them

It\’s good to see anyone walk away from a wreck.
And,…speaking of wrecks,I don\’t miss watching the NHRA.
Years ago,the thought wouldn\’t have been there.
Now,it is.
Easy does it moon man. Maybe you should stick to watching figure skating.
Drama queen………..
Trying to ride a 5 second bomb things happen very fast, you are just along for the ride It is a testament to the safety equipment required. And the safety crews themselves. Glad it worked out OK . She will be back at the next race
