Anyone who has ever seen the ScottRods AA/Gassers running at the dozens of events they compete at during the year will tell you one thing, “THE BURNOUTS ARE AWESOME!” Those people are not lying. The group has been known for years as premier showmen who have killer cars to boot. Most of these guys run blown big block Chevy engines on alcohol and they run them in cars that you’d all kill to own. The paint jobs are nostalgia, the backup girls are always dressed to the 9s, and the noise they make is perfection. Hell, they raced four wide at Charlotte in 2016 and just about brought down the house.
Burnouts have been in the news a lot more than normal this season, especially regarding the NHRA side of things. Guys like Derrick Kramer put on a killer show in pro stock week after week with a car that may not have been able to run low ET but it cold damn sure garner some fan support. Then there was John Force after both of his teams locked in nitro championships doing an old school three quarter track smoker or fun. What about Matt Smith on a pro stock bike burning one down to the cords for entertainment? Know what all of these things have in common with the ScottRods AA/Gassers? PEOPLE LOVE THEM. Shockingly, people love fun things. Weird, right?
