If you didn’t know, Chevrolet LUV pickup trucks are a strange little kink around BangShift. Chad’s son Cole is building a monster out of one and I’ve got a pretty strong history from years back when quite a few of the rebadged Isuzu Fasters were a part of the family fleet. And in the Broke Bastard Garage, another Chevy LUV is being built up specifically for the Roadkill Zip-Tie Drags that will be going down at Tucson Dragway on January 18-19, 2019. This is going to be a father-son project that is aiming squarely at the $3,000 Hooptie Challenge and should be a stout little bastard with a swapped-in 327 and five-speed manual transmission, but that’s further on down the line. Right now, it’s your typical primer-job LUV and it needs to be torn down to be rebuilt. That means the interior needs to come out, the bed needs to come off, the 80-horse four-banger and manual trans need to come out, and all of the original wiring, which makes the Raven Imperial’s gnawed-on mess look decent by comparison, needs to be gutted. This is a cool low-buck project that should result in a riot of a truck, and we will be following along with the build!
