N.O.S or new old stock parts are kind of the holy grail for people doing really stringent restoration work. In the case of this eBay ad, the parts we are talking about are a set of 348 Chevy heads that have never been bolted to an engine. Hell, they have never even had valve springs in them, let alone valves. What’s even more bad ass is the fact that all of the necessary parts to assemble the heads are present and they too are factory pieces. We’re talking the valves, the valve springs, all of it. Now that we have gone over all the awesome here, let’s come back down to Earth a little.

These are not really desirable heads for anyone restoring a high performance version of the 348. These are the 230/250hp heads so they are not super hot in terms of the performance market. We’re not saying that they have no value because if someone is doing a chalk mark restoration on a car with this engine and they want it to be letter perfect, these heads would get them there. If you are looking to build a 348ci engine that is 100% factory perfect and has not so much as had a valve job since new these are the heads you want.

We find it amazing that there is not so much as flash rust on these suckers. We wonder if someone was a dealer parts guy and maybe these walked out the back door years ago when old inventory was being cleared out. Then again, why would someone have 348 heads stocked on the shelf?

No matter what, this is pretty awesome and a complete mechanical time capsule.
