All Of Our Boss Photos From The 2013 World Series Of Drag Racing!

(Photos by Greg Rourke and Bob Chiluk) – While Chad is literally two stories above the track at Cordova Raceway Park, providing the live streaming video, Greg Rourke and Bob Chiluk are down in the trenches with their cameras blasting away. This is the place we’re going to be posting all of Greg and Bob’s killer photo work. We’ve broken the galleries down into some more specific subjects to you cane really hone in on what you want to check out. Friday at the 60th World Series of Drag Racing was a busy day. There was qualifying in all off the sportsman classes along with qualifying in nostalgia nitro funny car, nostalgia super stock, a quick 16, tons of exhibition passes, and more!

Legends like Don Garlits, Arnie Beswick, and a cavalcade of others have also filled the pits and you’ll see photos of them in these galleries as you’d expect. Beswick’s famed “Tameless Tiger” 1964 Pontiac GTO is as ageless and cool as its driver. Seeing Garlits’ dragster barfing header flames three feet out of the pipes is something that will eternally put a smile on our faces.

The body’s on the FCs look great. Please do not let the side spill plates get any bigger. Don’t mind the verticle spoilers but those side wings suck. Don’t do the NHRA big show crap. If everyone will not do it there will be no advantage and a better race. Didn’t have them back in the day, don’t need them now.

  2. Old Cordova Racer

Really good pictures and live feed. Thanks for allowing us to view races and cars that create some nostalgia for us viewers. I was there in 57 with a brand new 57 Chevy 283, 4bbl and enjoyed many trips to Cordova until 62 with that car and a 59 Plymouth Sport Fury. One thing that attracted my attention back then was the change from the old Ford bodied gassers to the Willies and Anglia gassers. They really attracted a crowd when they first hit the track. That and the first time the “Maverick” Golden put on his wheelstand exhibition. That was awesome. That truck was a pig for looks but was ideal for Mavericks purpose.
