We were live at the Coffeyville Street Drags recently, and got to see the cool action that the folks from Urban Hillbilly Videos had known about for some time. Ok, let’s be accurate: Chad was at Coffeyville. I was at home, watching, and wasn’t completely happy with that. The Street Drags are a very cool setup: a section of roadway in an industrial park is officially used as a drag strip, with barriers all the way down an eighth-mile run. Volunteers help keep the event going and are involved in some shape or form, from prep and crowd control to the guy flashlight-starting the race. Compared to other communities that are busy shutting down strips or are actively combating the street racing scene, Coffeyville has taken proactive steps that meets racers in the middle, and we can appreciate that. But what is truly the winning moment for the Street Drags is when cars like this Ford station wagon line up in front of a crowd on a two-lane and proceed to go wheels-up as if there’s serious money on the line. Watching racing, either legal or pseudo-illegal, on the television is one thing, but watching a car hang the hoops on some two-lane in the far end of town is something else together!
Love it! Front shockies optional lol
