Coupe De Kill Update: TRIUMPH! 205+ MPH In Monstrous Car With Caddy Power – Wow!

We are overjoyed to report that the infamous “Coupe De Kill” 1970 Cadillac Coupe DeVille of Sean Mote has run over 200mph for the first time, earning Sean a spot in the ECTA 200mph club and making one of the most popular BangShift feature cars of all time even that much cooler. It has been a long road for Mote and it seemed that the car would be mired in the high 190s for a while. During the first meet of the 2015 ECTA seasonm Mote lunched another transmission and crushed his hopes of two century glory that weekend. Replacing the transmission in the last couple of hours before last weekend’s meet started, Mote came to the track with his normal “realistic” outlook, knowing he had the power, but also knowing that power had been eating transmissions like Skittles.

Sean ran an “easy” 196mph shot to make sure that all was well with the car and on his second pull of the event, the car ran faster than it has ever run before. The cool air, the slight tailwind, and the 106mm Precision turbo whistling like Satan’s pan flute, added up to a 205.6mph pass and absolute jubilation at the Ohio Mile. Racers of all types and stripes were congratulating Mote on not only the number but also the fact that a 205mph record meant that he would become a member of the ECTA 200 mph club.

From our perspective in the timing tower at the end of the course, when we saw Mote coming through the second half mile we knew that it was time. The engine was turning lots more RPMs, there was no smoke, and the huge car was settled back down on its haunches, the nose up slightly plowing through the air. When the numbers flashed on the screen there was cheer that could be heard up the road in Columbus. We thought that BangShifters would love to hear that Mote got the job done. Spectacular!

(On a personal note. For as long as I am fortunate enough to go to race tracks and do “stuff” this will forever remain a top 10 personal highlight moment. You can’t help but love the car and Sean is a real deal guy. Just awesome.)

1970, really? Look at the grille, hood trim, front cornering lamps, tail lights, its clearly a 1969.

What the hell are you trying to do to me!

I can only stand SO much stimulation – for here is the singularly BEST ever car I have ever seen either on these hallowed pages or indeed any other magazine recently.

For that I humbly thank you – and now I can get down to some serious stain removal…….

That is awesome to see an old enormous Cadillac going that fast, great job on a quality build to the owner of that machine ! I try to explain to my kids when they see the modern Cadillac’s, that is not what I think of as a Cadillac, I think of these awesome big old sleds !
    Rides like a Cadillac !

“Satan’s pan flute”…good Brian. Sean and the Caddy were “built” for each other!!!

Bad Ass! Every single designer, engineer, and marketing guy at Cadillac should be given a ride along in that beast. Maybe then we can prevent bull crap like the XTS being branded with the Cadilac crest.

The true spirit of hot rodding lives in this Caddy. Sean could have taken the easy way out and put a big block Chevy in there, but he didn’t. Nothing against BBC’s. This car is a beast! Sean is not easily discouraged. He is really laid back but this car is not.
