Captured Horsepower: David Whealon’s 2019 Photographic Year In Review – Racing, Pulling, Cornering, and More

Captured Horsepower: David Whealon’s 2019 Photographic Year In Review – Racing, Pulling, Cornering, and More

(Photos by David Whealon) – There’s a tiny part of us that actually might feel bad for David Whealon. See, we know lots of guys who are into cars and racing, and the whole thing but few of them are are off the deep end about the whole thing are we are and David is one of those guys.

Over the course of 2019 David shot everything from professional level road racing to mud bogging, tractor pulling, PDRA drag racing, NHRA drag racing, and more. It seemed like almost every week of the spring and summer we were getting dispatches from his lens. David’s a great action shooter and the speed and fury of the events he attends are wonderfully shown here in this first of two parts showing off his 2019 work.

We’d say more but we don’t have to, the images speak for themselves.

David is a GREAT photographer and especially of cars at speed. The nicest shot I have of Mutt is one he took at the big end of the track in Ohio – sharp, clear, and shot with the finish line markers in the pic. All that and his prices were reasonable, too. I miss having him at the ECTA meets in Arkansas. Good guy, good work.
