Daily Coverage From Sick Week 2023 – Motion Raceworks Crew Breaks Stuff, Lets A Kid Drive The Car, And Has Way Too Much Fun

We’re following several groups of folks on Sick Week, and one of them is the group of folks from Motion Raceworks. Led by Doug and Andy Cook, this band of brothers are in it for the adventure and the competition and we’ll see how both work throughout the week. Day Zero through three are below, and we’ll have more coming each day this week. If you missed the previous videos, then start at the bottom of the page and work your way up.

Well this is it, the close of Sick Week 2023. One of those things where it’s exhausting and hard and yet it goes by so fast. We went through a lot this week, from breakdowns (both mechanical and mental), to awesome highs, and a lot of miles on the road. Truly you gotta be SICK to wanna do one of these drag and drive events.

On this close out video, Red and Doug make one final pass and call it. They finished the race and turned in a respectable slip at all 5 stops! Tanner and Chin just keep improving. Every single day they improved and they checked off their two big wins – finish the event, and run a 7 every day!

Bigun and Ry had a pretty serious tranny issue, but never even considered not finishing and not fixing it. When the smoke cleared they were the Super Street champs and we got a pretty rad interview with them and learn a lot more about the rust wrapped ’68 Camaro!

Thanks for riding with us so far, we can see the finish line! This is Day 4 from Gainesville FL, the home of the Gator Nationals.

For once we all make a one and done run. That rhyme was on purpose. one. done. run. Anyway, this was a great day overall, even with a brief breakdown for Pumpkin Spice.

Blayne drove a chunk of the drive from SGMP to Gainesville with the assistance of a backpack.

We also, this is a big deal for us Midwesterners, got to play around in the ocean. This has been a blast even with basically zero chance of Pumpkin getting on the podium.

Hop in the back seat and ride with us as we head to South Georgia Motorsports Park in Adel GA. With the GTO down we film a few more cars of friends and customers like the awesome Swedish S10, our buddy Derek Bieri from Vice Grip Garage, Matt Moore the chasis master and a few others. Tanner and Chin just keep ripping and keep being ultra consistent in the ’68 Chevelle while shaving another tenth off their time and pulling another one and done. And maybe more importantly, we get Sam’s opinion on the Chevelle’s sorta 80s pinstripes. Bigun had one pass that turned out not so great (on video here), got a needed part and then ripped off another low 7 sec pass! Pretty amazing for a car that has been assembled for 25 seconds Doug and Red continue to fight with Pumpkin Spice but end up with a good run at the very end of the day and Red of course breaks down the why and how like only he can!

Ride with us at one of our favorite tracks around; Bradenton FL. The crew and team, just like the Sick Week team, are awesome. Today’s recap video has a little bit of every emotion a racer will experience. Joy, anger, frustration, confusion, and flat out sadness as Andy’s GTO is out of Sick Week. Also, Taco Bell, if you’re looking to throw a sponsorship at someone, holler at your boy!

Day one, the first day of actual racing, is here! Sick Week is full of fast cars and cool firsts. For example, Tanner, an awesome TBM employee, makes his first ever Drag & Drive pass in this video. He does it in a ’68 Chevelle that he’s been working on for 3 years and owned for 10. Doug and Red have a few struggles to make Pumpkin do what it can after putting in a different convertor and a spoolmaster 9000. The struggle is part of what makes the victories so great though. Speaking of victory, Bigun’s save on a pass that seemed like certain death when a belt let go was nothing short of flat out amazing driving. Oh, and Andy breaks his axle. Again. ENJOY!

Ride with us at Motion Raceworks while our guys tackle Sick Week 2023. This is the first day without being the actual first day. Tech In lines took something like 415 hours. The team at Sick Week is the best, but there are a LOT of cars here. Good problem, I suppose. Things went pretty well, besides the one major thing that didn’t. The one thing that immediately required a 6-hour round trip and resulted in just a couple of hours of sleep.
