Death Wish? We Have The Craziest Looking Thing We Have Ever Seen – V8 Snowmobile

Death Wish? We Have The Craziest Looking Thing We Have Ever Seen – V8 Snowmobile

We know a bunch of guys from Wisconsin and those guys are some of the hardest core hot rodder, partiers, and lovers of life that we have ever run into. Why? Because for lots of the year Wisconsin is not exactly the friendly capitol of the weather world. You need to have some backbone to live in Wisconsin and you also need to have a strong liver because the dudes we know from that area can put the sauce away.

When nights fueled by the liquid courage happen, stuff like the absolute death wish of a machine below happen. This is a V8 snowmobile powered by a 355i Chevy small block that formerly powered some sort of sportsman stock car. We literally know nothing of the dynamics of a snowmobile but it sure seems like the 400+ lbs that this Chevy V8 is exerting on the nose of the snow machine may not make it the best handler in the world. In a straight line, with its spiked track, it likely pulled like some sort of device created by Satan himself.

The ad is short and sweet so we are going to publish the text below. The reality is that there is a small window of people looney enough to actually climb onto this and romp the throttle open and those people do not need a sales pitch, they need mental help. Anyone who sees a picture of this thing and then envisions themselves flying across a frozen lake as opposed to dying in a fire is the buying audience. Where are you?

Here’s the ad text in case it gets pulled:

1996 Polaris XCR v8 snowmobile for sale.. Engine is a chevy 355, previosly a lightweight circle track motor balanced and blueprinted!
4 pro comet drive clutch, adjustable cam arms in clutch.. lights, registered, and trail ridden… Nos bottle on the back has never been used, it was for show only and is no longer on the sled… Took me 3 years to get the clutchs to work with a low rpm engine, I have had it clocked on a real gun at 124mph so far with Way more left… Track has chisel studs and it hooks hard and will not spin on hard ice and pulls skis off the ground.. Cooling is with the original sled heat exchangers with a electric water pump.. Turn Key… 4500.00 715-421-408ZERO Thanks

What’s the point? You could have a lot more fun on a 700/800cc machine with a decent track (at least 144″x2″ paddles) and you’d actually be able to handle, plus probably out-accelerate this pig. About all this creation is good at is killing/maiming its driver.

If you’re going to put a car engine in a sled for some reason, start with a more modern chassis and a bigger track, and use something like an aluminum four cylinder with a blower.
