Heart, Soul, and Horsepower: Dom Lagana and Billy Stocklin Tell Their Stories Of Life In Drag Racing, Growth, and Success

Heart, Soul, and Horsepower: Dom Lagana and Billy Stocklin Tell Their Stories Of Life In Drag Racing, Growth, and Success

No racing has presented a unique and awesome opportunity each time I create an NHRA Insider podcast these days. It has opened the doors to talk to the people I have long wanted to interview, learn more about, and ultimately hear the stories of. Dom Lagana and Billy Stocklin are two of those people. Men who have risen from humble beginnings in drag racing and have achieved the pinnacle of success in the sport.

Lagana, the son of the late Bobby Lagana Sr and brother of Bobby Lagana Jr. started working on the family nitro powered race cars when he could walk. His life has literally been lived at the drag strip. The family hauled their top fuel dragster around on a 1969 Ford ramp truck well into the 1990s  and off of that ramp truck managed to make 4-second, 300mph quarter mile runs. To hear of Dom’s philosophy, his youth, and his experiences at the track is to begin to understand how deeply this sport runs in the family and how much he appreciates his life in it today.

Billy Stocklin is one of the most diverse and interesting talents in all of drag racing. Starting as a kid in mud racing and working his way through the sport to achieve the highest honors in door slammer racing, it’s a story that you’ll love to hear. Stocklin talks about why he has been able to work with success on so many different types of race cars, who he respects in the sport, and what challenges are important to him.

These are two guys who are smart, interesting, and introspective. It’s a really neat discussion with a pair of the good guys in the sport of drag racing.
