It came down to a final round. It was the end of the weekend at Holley LS Fest and the championship for the Real Street category of the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series was on the line. In one lane was the team of Farks Supercars and American Racing Headers with their ProCharged 5th generation Camaro. They had come into the weekend with a slim lead in the points but they knew that Jesse Cooper still had a shot at upending their championship hopes.
The story played out like a movie script and in a twist of fate, there actually WAS a movie made about the whole thing and not only that it was entered into the Optima Ultimate Film Festival and was a finalist pick! Sweetening the pot is the fact that the film was made by Scott Payton one of the BangShift web guys who has helped guide, design, and keep this site from flopping over for years now. He totally crushed it with this video.
In typical racing fashion, the best laid plans get blown to bits almost right off the bat and the true test of what a team actually is and how dedicated to there cause they actually were got stretched to the max. They fought weird mechanical issues, they had heartbreak at a moment that should have been triumphant and then fought all the way to the bitter end. Oh, you want to know if they won? Take the time and watch the video. It is an unflinching account of a weekend that none of these guys. These fathers and sons working together will ever forget. Hell, I was standing there in the tower yelling about it and I remember it like yesterday!
