In It For The Long Run: This Dragster In Uruguay Runs Forever On Alcohol Before Making A Run

We have taken you to many places on Earth where people drag race but we’re not sure we have taken you to Uruguay yet. This South American country, like every other one down there has a drag strip (multiple) and they like to get their fast on like we do. In this case we are going to watch a slingshot style dragster make a run at a strip that appears to be part of a road course. The car is very basic and appears to have been built down in the area that it’s being raced, judging by the roll cage tubing. Powered by a real snappy sounding injected small block Chevy engine, this little car is pretty cool and the engine is clearly built like it’s going into the war. What do we mean?

This car makes squirts, burnouts, and dry hops on both sides of the track before making an 8-second pull down the unprepared surface. We have no idea what size the tank is and we have no idea who built the short block but we do know that it’s anvil tough.

While the vide may lack a wild elapsed time, a crazy wheelie, or something of that nature, it has a lot of the Uruguay drag racing culture in it. Look at the cars in the background, the cars going in an out on trailers, and the overall scene. We’re in love with this stuff because it shows a sport in the growing stages. So Cool!
