eBay Find: This 1989 Olds Is A Whole Lot More Than A Tub Job – Really Nice Street Car!

eBay Find: This 1989 Olds Is A Whole Lot More Than A Tub Job – Really Nice Street Car!

When we first started looking at this 1989 Olds Cutlass we were immediately more interested. Why? The car is very, very clean and seemingly well put together as far as the exterior goes. When we started looking at the inside and the other photos we quickly realized that this was not some back half, tub job, non-functional pro street machine. Nope, this thing was built to be a full on racer and it has found its way to the street with a mild big bloc Chevy and an automatic transmission. We keep looking at this car and wondering white it is NOT going to be at Drag Week or Rocky Mountain Race Week or something of that nature because it looks to be built for just that purpose.

Maybe it seems weird to say out loud but these cars made for great looking pro stockers back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This car affirms that memory because with some logos and stuff on it you could have a pretty period looking pro stocker here!

We love the way that the car sits. Not too low but totally angry looking, it is perfect. The addition of the touch pad screen on the back of the windshield cutout for scoop placement is a nice upgrade and it must handle the need for a stereo as well. The engine is a basically stock 454 with an MSD ignition, an Edelbrock intake, a Holley carb, and headers on it. Being that the car  is so light and that it has a 4.30 gear in it, we are guessing that it really screams even with the old horsepower.

The seller says he cruises it and the thing should be pretty happy with the mostly stock engine and other moving components. We’d love to get our mitts on this and put some spray to it.

I have to agree they were good looking Pro Stocks back in the day. To bad they didn’t come from the factory as RWD cars. It’s a little out of my budget but this car is right is some many ways.

  2. Turbo Regal

There are so few of these FWD GM10 cars (Lumina, Cutlass, GP, Regal) left on the road, especially compared to the G bodies that came before them. These cars made sure that Toyota and Honda would own the mid size car for nearly the next 2 decades.

    Nice car!

Read the ebay ad, its fake. What if you took it out of state and tried to register it for street, would they pass this with lexan windshield and all that stuff?
Anyhow, I like it and it seems like a lot of car for the money, am I right?
