ECTA Ohio Mile Coverage: Our Last Blast From The Opening Meet Of 2016

ECTA Ohio Mile Coverage: Our Last Blast From The Opening Meet Of 2016

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – This is the last gallery submitted for the Spring ECTA meet. Hope you have enjoyed.   One of the best-sounding cars to ever fly down the Ohio Mile has to be the Tutterrow’s number 9513 entry with it’s 302-inch SBC howling through zoomies.  Not only does it sound good….it just looks right for a hot rod land speed car.  The Garage Shop’s Aaron Brown wheeled the ‘uncatchable’ ’39 Rat Rod truck to a new best and entry into the ECTA 200mph club.  Chad Dowell urged his 4.8 LS-powered third-gen Camaro to over 170mph.  For such a small-displacement that thing certainly sounds healthy going down the runway.  I would be neglect if I didn’t mention Mike Warren pushing his twin-turbo, big-block ‘world’s fastest model T coupe’ to a new high-water mark of 202mph.  When I first saw it I thought 200mph was not going to be reached.  Glad I was wrong.

If you haven’t been to one of these meets you really ought to come out for the June event.  It could possibly be the last one at that facility.  Hope not, but I’d hate to miss it.  One of the best crowds of gear-heads ever.
