(Photos by Bob Boudreau) – Lots of people like to complain and gripe about Facebook and social media, but I’m not one of those guys because though those channels comes stuff like this gallery. I got permission from photographer Bob Boudreau to create a gallery of his photos here on the site. I first started seeing these shots show up on a FB New England Dragway historical page and was immediately enthralled. The photos span a couple of years as Bob would travel from his home in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada to Epping with press passes to shoot the AHRA Grand American race each summer.
There is a wide array of stuff in this gallery from legends like Bill Jenkins and Ronnie Sox, to the incredible Wagon Master four engine Buick station wagon (which was Ivo’s Showboat to start with), to Shirley Mulowney in both a funny car and her twin engine top gas dragster that played a big role in her becoming the great driver that she was. There are tons of recognized drag racing super hero drivers and cars in this gallery as well as some truly bitchin’ period sportsman racers as well. We have run some awesome galleries over the year, but this one could be the coolest ever. No foolin’!
Thanks to Bob Boudreau to allowing us to run his amazing photos from the early 1970s!
