When I see videos like this one, I realize just how lucky I am. BANGshift contributor Scott Liggett sent this one to me, and I’m glad he did. I realize I am lucky when I watch a video like this vintage dragster nitro startup because on what might be hundreds of occasions, I’ve stood next to a vintage, or nostalgia, dragster or funny car when they’ve been started and switched over to nitro. Or I’ve stood next to a roadster or lakester at Bonneville being fired up on the starting line that is started on pump gas, run on methanol for 30 seconds or so, and then switched over to nitro before the startup tank is removed and everyone jumps in the push truck to send it on its way down the salt. The point is, I have been around a bunch of blown or injected nitro cars, and I know that makes me pretty lucky. Don’t for a second think that I don’t love it each and every time, it’s just that I sometimes forget that what I experience many times a year is maybe a once in a lifetime thing for some people.
So with that in mind, I hope you enjoy the hell out of watching this killer little Lyndwood Welding dragster being fired up and run by one cool cat in his yard. I watched this and thought to myself, “I really need to put a blown big block or Hemi together on nitro, just so I can fire it up once a week in front of the shop and give it a couple of big throttle whacks.” I mean can you think of a better thing to listen to while enjoying a cold beverage?
