Extreme Outlaw Pro Mods In Atlanta – Wild Cars, Wild Weather, And Great Times

Extreme Outlaw Pro Mods In Atlanta – Wild Cars, Wild Weather, And Great Times

(Words and photos by Benoit Pigeon) – My last visit at Atlanta dragway was back in 1989 for some heads up Top Sportsman racing. Not too surprisingly, this new visit took me for the same kind of cars, only they are known as Pro Modified today.

EOPM visited Georgia for the first time this year during the track’s Night of Fire event. Spectators turn out was amazing and the officials had a nice show for them with a wheel stander, three jet cars, two demoniac street rods, fireworks and of course Pro Mods. Due to rain delays, Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod (EOPM) cars could only manage two qualifications runs and racing ended with only one round of elimination. Still a great show for the crowd and we managed to shoot some frames to save the memories.

I’m sorry but that ‘Wicked Willy’ Lincoln Zepher looking thingie looks like it’s covered with ‘barn fresh’ bird poo……

Some spectacular representation of horsepower and looks. Some not necessarily my cup of tea in appearance, but I can appreciate what it took to build such a machine. Pro Mods are my favorite! One thing for sure, I’m in the wrong line of work. No way could I begin to afford to build one of these wicked cars. Enviously looking at them going down the track is as close as I can get to having one.

These cars are very fun to watch and do deserve full respect as race cars. I was just expressing an opinion, they take a lot of time and maintenance for some very, very short seat time
