Fantastic Vintage Drag Video: 1960s Footage From Atco And Englishtown!

Atco Raceway and Englishtown Raceway Park are two of the quickest, fastest, and longest standing drag plants on the east coast. This awesome video, compiled by someone as a tribute to their deceased friend has some totally bitchin’ footage of everything from Super Stocks to Gassers and Altereds. It looks like the main focus of the video is a Hemi Dart called, “Wild Fire”. The rear wheel wells look to be correct for a Hurst Hemi car. Hey, we’re taking a shot.

Also of note is some rare footage of a Dragon Snake Shelby which may be the one Joel Rosen campaigned back in the day. The shots of the trucks and trailers lined up heading into the track, all the vintage doorslammers burning out and pulling dry hops, and just the look of these two tracks more than 40 years ago makes us yearn for a time machine!

Dig the 4-speed Biscayne that shows up around two minutes in! This video rules from front to back!

It is funny to think that today as you are reading this, top fuel dragsters and funny cars will be traversing this same patch of ground at speeds well exceeding 330mph and in elapsed times that even the most chemically enhanced 1960s hot rodders could not have dreamed of!

Great video .The car that some say was a Cobra Dragon snake is actually a Austin Healy with a big block chevy in it , owned and driven by Ronnie Wright from my home town , Chester Pa .
