Fantastic Vintage Drag Video: The Highlights of the 1966 NHRA World Finals in Tulsa – See Greats Like The Grump, Pete Robinson and More in Action!

There are cool old drag racing videos and then there are those that words fail to properly describe. This one is all time. Produced by Bob Peterson (THAT Bob Peterson) with race announcing by Steve Evans and a closing narration by Keith Jackson, it is an awesome look at the 1966 NHRA Wold Finals held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our favorite part of this video is that we get to see guys like “Sneaky Pete” Robinson, Grumpy Jenkins, and even Joe Lunati in his wild Modified Sports roadster make laps. There are other greats like Connie Kalitta and Eddie Schartman shown here as well.

This is an awesome time capsule video that is before the vast changes that came to the NHRA class structure in 1970 so we see Top Gas dragsters, too.  The race announcing by a young Steve Evans is great as well. He still has his signature tones and that timeless delivery that we all loved so much. Hell, you can even watch the EMPI Inch Pincher VW knock off a funny car in this one!

Press play for 8 minutes of the most fantastic old school drag racing you’ll ever see!
