Lots of people have the mistaken impression that running a jet car is no big deal. After all, there’s the engine spinning and insane RPMs, lots of fuel moving to and fro, plumbing and lines that would make a plumber puke and a driver positioned to make the engine an arm rest. In this video you’ll see it all go very wrong for Bruce Andrews, driver of the Silver Fox jet truck.
This video, shot at a strip in Alaska, shows the truck launch off and explode in an inceredible fireball. Pay close attention to the rear tire just before the tree comes down. Apparently a fuel line burst and was spraying fuel on the “hot” side of the motor. Andrews had no idea what was about to happen, not sixty feet from the starting line. This is a serious case of the KABOOMS!
The safety crew must be on a donut break!!!
I can´t relate to jet cars at all.
“MY CUBANS!!!!!”
Yeah, where the H… was the safety crew? Poor guy had to stand helplessly by as his car continued to burn. Good thing he got out quickly or he would been a toasted marshmallow!

Learn something new every day. Alaska has a drag strip. Added to the list of reasons why I need to get back up there.
Photog across the track saw it right before it launched but just didn’t have enough time to get anybody’s attention. I’m always on the lookout when I’m shooting pics along the wall and looking for debris between runs.
