FCA has released the newest in a string of weekly videos teasing us and promoting their new Challenger Demon “super muscle car”. This one focuses on the intake tract or the cold air intake tract to be more specific. We take the trip of an oxygen molecule as it goes through the massive hood scoop, through the high flow air box, through the intake plumbing, into the throttle body, and ultimately into the twin screw blower.
There are some telltale images that are intriguing like the one that shows off the scoop…and two headrests in the car. Didn’t we already get told that there’s only going to be one seat or was that just all of us being hysterical and putting meaning on something that did not have any?
The brief look into the engine bay to show off the air box indicates that the supercharger/intake manifold setup is identical to a Hellcat. That puts our theory of a bigger Whipple blower on top of the engine to rest because it simply is not there. It would also indicate to use that the horsepower number will be more in the 750-850 range with perhaps a pulley swap to get the blower spinning a little harder. That’s blind speculation on our part. Bench racing, if you will.
This video doesn’t seem to have the panache of the others. It is cool but there’s no real revelations happening here.

But, any engine builder will be quick to point out that the “power of that poetry” is actually limited; limited by the chemistry of combustion; limited by thin air.
Because the key to increasing the power output of the Challenger SRT Demon’s supercharged HEMI, or any engine for that matter, is a function of how much cool air you can get in the engine.
To maximize the Demon’s full potential, SRT has added:
- The largest functional “Air Grabber” cold air intake hood ever installed on a production vehicle, measuring more than 45 square inches
- A significantly larger air box that is sealed and ducted to the hood scoop
- Two illuminated functional “Air Catcher” headlamps
The combination gives the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon significantly increased airflow, while also dropping the inlet air temperature by more than 30 degrees compared with the Hellcat.
Fans should visit www.ifyouknowyouknow.com to watch the “Forced Induction” video multiple times. Just like the previous videos, nothing is a coincidence and everything means something. Follow along with other teaser videos to learn more about what’s next from Dodge and SRT.
