(Photos by Wes Allison) – Yes, finally after a near daily barrage of photos from Funny Car Chaos 2021 at the Texas Motorplex, we have come to the end of our photo pile. The reverberations of this event are still being felt in drag racing. For as many cars as there was there, what you can’t see is the fact that many dozens more racers were there to hang out without their cars and they have all gone home to wrench furiously, inspired by what they saw first hand at the ‘Plex down there in Ennis, Texas.
There’s no wrong way to go drag racing, other than not going at all. This event stands as proof positive that for the vast majority of people who love this sport, the money is not what they are chasing. That’s a fool’s errand. They are chasing the event, the experience, the camaraderie, and the validation that comes by stacking your personal talent and equipment up against the best out there.
