Gasser Reunion Coverage: We’re Not Done Yet, There Are Too Many Cool Cars To Show You

(Photos by Mike Brooks) – We’re not done yet! That’s right, Mike Brooks shot so many great photos at the 2015 Gasser Reunion and Nostalgia drags at Thompson Motorsports Park that we’re going to keep rolling them out until they are gone. There is some real history in this bunch with the famous Godzilla 1955 Chevrolet and even a rocket funny car! No, the car did not run but it is a historic piece nonetheless. Campaigned by Lew Arrington, the Captain America rocket funny car was as exceptionally fast as the rest of the rockets during the 1970s, running very low 6s at speeds approaching 250mph. This was not the final Captain America that ran way into the 5s but this one would have been blindingly fast as well. The car was on display and Mike got some great snaps of it.

Among the cars that were racing, the Ohio Outlaw AA/Gasser group was on hand and those dudes always put on a heck of a show. We have seen them at Norwalk, Indy, Bowling Green, and a multitude of other tracks. With big burnouts, quick elapsed times, and backup girls, they are the complete package and we’re sure that the sizable crowd at Thompson loved them as well.

What’s coming tomorrow? Stay tuned to find out!
