Every time I see a 1980s era Mazda B-series truck, I can’t help but picture the stereotypical minitruck. You know the kind…1980s wheels, bed cap in matching color, and a tweed interior. That’s what they were good for…that, or being the perfect $500 pickup truck for a kid who wanted to have a truck to work out of during the summer months. My mini-truck experience is limited to a borrowed Dodge D-50, but we owned one of these Mazdas and it was…um…peppy? It was a good thing it looked decent, because the factory engines were never going to cut the mustard power-wise.
This Mazda has the pariah engine, a turbocharged LS,and otherwise looks like a thirty-year-old beater truck that’s been prepped to do some street hustling. Except for the equipment in the bed. Yeah, your eyes don’t deceive you, that’s a lawnmower in the bed, at a dragstrip, in a truck that turns 10s. It’s bolted down and isn’t going anywhere, and we imagine that it’s a lot of fun out on the street for a laugh. What we’d really like to hear is in-car footage of the Mercedes SLS driver losing his mind as he watches a Craigslist special pickup truck with a lawnmower in the bed walk away from him. We might have to bleep out a few words on that clip…
Didn\’t see any To sec ets on scoreboards 11.50 aint 10s.
