(Editor’s note: Back in late 2014 we told you about this car. The thing is still for sale and the asking price is perfect. We have failed the world if a BangShifter does not buy this awesome pile of Caddy/AMC Goodness!)
Cosmically, this is perfect. It is an AMC for sale in Kenosha, Wisconsin and it is powered by a 500ci Cadillac engine which makes it a true “Kenosha Cadillac” as so many hack drag racing announcers call AMCs when they are spotted. Sorry, I had to. This 1978 Pacer wagon is one of the sneakiest little cars we have seen in some time because its outward appearance belies nothing that’s actually going on under the skin because the car is powered (as mentioned above) by a big 500ci Cadillac V8 that’s hooked to a Turbo 400 and sends all of its power through an AMC 20 (egads) rear axle. We have to imagine that this little car is pretty fast and is capable of burning the while walls off of itself for hours on end. That little weight and wheelbase plus all that torque equal burnouts that look like space shuttle launches!
Outside of the obvious cool drivetrain stuff the other thing that is impressive about this car is the condition of all the factory pieces and parts on it. All the factory trim is mint, the interior is spectacular and we all know that every company during the late 1970s wasn’t exactly killing it on quality pieces so to have a dash and seats that look like the ones in this car is pretty amazing. While the engine isn’t swimming in the bay it does not seem to be too jammed up in there either. Running plugs into it won’t be bad with the Caddy engine’s position of the plugs on top. That makes for easy access for sure. The simple traction bars in the back lead us to believe that this car has hit the strip a time or two. Then again maybe those were added to help with the chassis trying to spin itself in half. Either way as dig the low buck and stealth approach that this car has from front to back. We don’t think that the Caddy has some radical cam in it or anything so at idle it probably sounds as smooth as silk.
Light car, big power, gobs of torque. There is no better formula. This thing must terrify people on the streets with “real” cars. HA!

This Pacer must have an interesting history, one of the ad’s photos shows it with Kentucky historic license tags.
If the right 1/4 is any indication of the rust the rest of the car has, that’s why it’s still for sale.
