(Photos by Joe Grippo) – We’ve been singing the praises of stock and super stock eliminator over the last few days as we have been sharing Joe Grippo’s photos from the late spring race at Maple Grove. Both stock and super stock are interesting cases in the annals of drag racing because as they evolve, new cars come into the mix every year but the old stuff like 350 powered 1969 Camaros are still as common as were 20 years ago or more. The car in the lead photo is the hemi powered Mopar of Travis Hess and that awesome old tank (built just a couple of years ago) can throw down with the best of them and is a proven class winner. While nothing is perfect, the recipe for stock and super stock is pretty damned good and highly entertaining.
If you want to see the best match ups possible in the two categories, get your ass to the US Nationals for the first couple of days as that’s when stock and super stock qualify and then run class eliminations where the cars run heads up and beat each other to a pulp throughout the day. If you don’t think watching two V/stock cars slug it out is fun, you are hanging out on the wrong website.
